The Double Top and Double Bottom pattern is one of the most powerful reversal setups in Forex and Gold.

But most beginners enter it wrong.
They enter too early → price spikes → SL hits → and then market reverses perfectly.

This post shows the smart money way to trade it with precision, high accuracy, and tight stop losses.

1. What is Double Top?

A Double Top forms when:

  • Price reaches the same high level twice
  • Fails to break above
  • Shows selling pressure
This signals a bearish reversal.

2. What is Double Bottom?

A Double Bottom forms when:

  • Price reaches the same low level twice
  • Fails to break below
  • Buyers step in
This signals a bullish reversal.

3. Mistake Most Traders Make

Beginners enter at the second touch of the top or bottom.

This is wrong ❌
Because that is where market hunts stop-losses.

Professional entry comes AFTER the stop hunt.

4. Sniper Entry Formula (Smart Money Version)

This setup has 3 steps:

StepDescription
1. Liquidity SweepPrice breaks slightly beyond previous top/bottom
2. Break of Structure (BOS)Price shifts direction confirming reversal
3. Pullback EntryEnter at Order Block / Retest Zone
When all 3 appear → The reversal is real ✅

5. Double Top Sell Setup (Example)

Steps:

  1. Price forms a high.
  2. Price returns and forms second high, but slightly breaks aboveLiquidity Sweep.
  3. Price then drops and breaks previous minor lowBOS (bearish shift).
  4. Wait for price to pull back to the last bullish candleBearish Order Block.
  5. Enter Sell at the retest.

Stop Loss:

Above the sweep wick.

Take Profit:

Next liquidity low or support zone.

6. Double Bottom Buy Setup (Example)

Steps:

  1. Price forms a low.
  2. Price returns and sweeps below the previous low → Liquidity Grab.
  3. Price breaks previous highBullish BOS.
  4. Wait for price to retrace to Bullish Order Block / Demand Zone.
  5. Enter Buy at retest.

Stop Loss:

Below sweep wick.

Take Profit:

Next resistance or equal highs.

7. Entry Confirmation Candles

Use one of the following on M5 or M1:

Candle SignalMeaning
Bullish EngulfingStrong buy takeover
Bearish EngulfingStrong sell takeover
Pin Bar RejectionZone protection
Break + Retest CloseReal direction confirmed
If no confirmation → No trade.

8. Risk-to-Reward (R:R)

Because entries are tight, R:R becomes high:

  • Minimum: 1:3
  • Common: 1:5
  • Often: 1:8 – 1:15 (sniper setups)
One good trade = full day done ✅

9. Best Timeframes

StepTimeframe
Pattern & StructureH1 / H4
BOS + SweepM15 / M5
Sniper EntryM1
This keeps your analysis clean and accurate.

Conclusion

Double Top & Double Bottom works best when traded with Smart Money confirmation:

✅ Wait for Liquidity Sweep
✅ Confirm BOS
✅ Enter on Pullback to OB
✅ Use tight Stop Loss
✅ Target Liquidity Levels

This transforms a basic beginner pattern into a professional high-accuracy strategy.
