Outshine Free DownloadThe best way I can describe this game, is it’s like Beat Saber, but for your fingers! Outshine is fast paced, very flashy, and can quickly become very addicting (in a good way). There is a community leaderboard, but it also does a fantastic job of helping you compete against yourself, so you can see & feel those improvements. With over a dozen modifiers, you can increase the difficulty of a run to increase your potential score, decrease difficulty (yep, with a decrease hit to your score), or even play more casually – just to practice typing in a fun video game. There is a story element to this game, which I found a delightful surprise. The words you type regularly are also very normal words… it’s not like they’re trying to trip you up with obscure words you’ve never seen or heard of before (at least through the portion I’ve played so far). The boss fights are each unique, and I was continually shocked at the number of ways they could keep presenting the same information, but in such different ways it didn’t feel too repetitive to me. You do NOT need to be a great speller to play the game; however, I do feel like people who ARE good at spelling, will have a bit of an advantage here… being able to quickly spot a word, know how to spell it, and already start looking for the next word while their fingers do the work. I don’t think this is a game someone will enjoy much, if you do not know how to type without looking at the keyboard. Sure, you can make several modifications so you still pass the stages, but the constantly looking up & down will most likely wear you out very quickly.
