Hey everyone,
I’m writing this to warn traders in this community about some very shady practices I experienced firsthand with a prop firm called Phidias. If you're considering trading with them or currently have an account, you need to read this.
The Setup
Like many of you, I was attracted to Phidias because of their attractive conditions: decent scaling plan, fair profit splits, and what seemed like a serious approach to risk management. I passed the challenge and started trading a funded account.Things were going smoothly. I was consistent and managed to grow the account significantly. That’s where the problems started.
The Red Flag
As soon as I requested a large withdrawal, suddenly Phidias decided to "move" my account to a real live account. They claimed this was a “reward” and a sign of trust in my performance.Let’s be clear: this wasn’t optional. I wasn’t asked. I was simply told the account was now live, and that payouts were “on pause.”
Sounds suspicious already? It gets worse.
The Real Game
When your account is switched to "live," here's what actually happens:- They delay or block your payout.
- They increase psychological pressure.
- They know most traders will make mistakes under this stress.
The worst part? They don't provide any transparency about what's going on. Just vague answers, delays, and excuses.
It’s a Trap
Let me be brutally honest:Phidias seems to use this tactic as a way to avoid paying out larger withdrawals. By converting your account to a “live” one at a strategic moment (when you’re due a big payout), they can:
- Blame your performance on "live market conditions."
- Push you into errors.
- Invalidate your payout based on rules they didn’t mention before.
I've Talked to Other Traders
After this happened, I reached out to a few other traders who had used Phidias, and to no surprise, several of them reported similar issues:- Account flagged or moved right before payout
- Increased slippage, execution issues
- Delayed or denied payments with no clear reason
What You Should Do
If you're currently trading with Phidias:- Take screenshots of everything.
- Record communications.
- Demand clarity before your next payout request.
- Be prepared to walk away if things start to look suspicious.
- Think twice. There are better, more transparent prop firms out there that don’t play these games.
Final Thoughts
Prop firms are becoming more popular, and with that, unfortunately, comes a rise in bad actors trying to take advantage of traders.Don’t get blinded by the marketing. Do your research. Talk to real traders. And most importantly — trust actions, not words.
I hope this post helps at least one person avoid the stress and disappointment I went through.
Trade safe.
